Paulo Manuel Carvalho de Sousa, CavIH is a Portuguese soccer coach and former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He is the head coach of the Polish national team. Starting his career at Benfica, he also represented Sporting in his home country where he amassed a total of 117 games and 3 goals in 5 years in the Primeira Liga. He has since played mainly in Italy and Germany, winning the Champions League with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund and the Intercontinental Cup with the latter team. His later career was severely hampered by injuries. Sousa was once a member of the "Golden Generation" of Portugal. and appeared with the national team at the 2002 World Cup and two European Championships. He coached in the late 2000s, managed clubs in several countries and won national championships with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Basel.
