Pedro Felipe Figueredo, best known as Perucho, was a 19th-century Cuban poet, musician and libertarian. During the 1860s, he was actively involved in planning for The Cuban uprising against the Spanish was known as the Ten Years War. He wrote the Cuban national anthem, El Himno de Bayamo, in 1867. He was captured during the war and performed August 17, 1870. His daughter Candelaria Figueredo became the hero of the rebellion, carrying the new Cuban independence flag at the Battle of Bayamo in 1868.
