Charlene is the Princess of Monaco and is a former Olympic swimmer. Her husband, Albert II, is the current prince of Monaco and head of Grimaldi's House. The princess was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia, to the daughter of Michael and Lynette Wittstock; the family moved to South Africa in 1989. She started her swimming career in 1996 and represented South Africa at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, her team finishing fifth in the content of the mixed 4 × 100 meter relay. Charlene retired from professional swimming in 2007. Charlene met Prince Albert at the Mare Nostrum swimming competition in Monte Carlo, Monaco, in 2000. The couple married on July 1, 2011. On December 10, 2014, she gave birth to twin Princess Gabriella and the genetic Prince. Jacques. Lady Charlene's charitable work revolves mainly around sports, AIDS and underprivileged children.
