Rachel Anne McAdams is a Canadian actress. Graduating from York University's theater program in 2001, she has worked in Canadian television and film productions, such as the Perfect Pie television series, for which she received a Genie Award nomination, the comedy My Name Is Tanino and the comedy. Slings and Arrows series, for which she won the Gemini Prize. In 2002, she made her Hollywood film debut in the comedy The Hot Chick. McAdams rose to fame in 2004 with the comedy Mean Girls and the romantic television series The Notebook. In 2005, she starred in the romantic comedy Wedding Crashers, the psychological thriller Red Eye and the comedy The Family Stone. She was hailed by the media as Hollywood's new "it girl" and received a BAFTA nomination for Best Rising Star. After a brief vacation, she made a comeback in 2009, appearing in the political thriller State of Play, the romantic film Time Travel Wife and the mystery film Sherlock Holmes.
