Shivaji Rao Gannad, known professionally as Rajinikanth, is an Indian actor working primarily in Tamil cinema. In addition to acting, he also works as a producer and screenwriter. He has won numerous awards, including four Best Actor Awards from Tamil Nadu State Cinema and a Best Tamil Actor Award from Filmfare. The Indian government honored him with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He received the Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan Award for Excellence in Indian Cinema at the 4th edition of the Vijay Awards. At the 50th Indian International Film Festival, he received the Global Jubilee Award. He is the second highest paid actor in the history of Tamil cinema, after Mr. G. Ramachandran. At the 67th National Film Awards, he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
