Singer-songwriter and composer best recognized for his Disney/Pixar collaborations. His film scores include Toy Story, Cars, The Princess and the Frog, and James and the Giant Peach. He has had twenty Academy Award nominations and has won two of them.
Randall Stuart Newman is an American singer-songwriter, songwriter and pianist known for his Southern-inspired singing style, his early songs inspired by the Americas, and various films. Her most popular songs as a recording artist are "Short People", "I Love LA" and "You've Got a Friend in Me", while other artists have reaped the rewards. Was more successful with covers of "Mama Told Me Not Coming", "I Think It's Going To Rain Today" and "You Can't Leave Your Hat On". Born in Los Angeles to a family of Hollywood composers, Newman began his writing career at the age of 17, writing hits for artists such as Fleetwoods, Cilla Black, Gene Pitney and Alan Price Set. In 1968, he officially made his debut as a solo artist with the album Randy Newman, produced by Lenny Waronker and Van Dyke Parks. Four of Newman's non-soundtrack albums made it to the top 40 in the United States: Sail Away, Good Old Boys, Little Criminals, Harps and Angels.
