Raymond Jean Bourque is a former professional Canadian ice hockey player. He currently holds the record for most goals scored in his career, assisting and scoring by a defender of the National Hockey League. He has won the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top guard five times, while coming in second with that title six more times. He also finished twice in the Hart Memorial Trophy election, something rare for a defensive player. He has been named 19 times in the season-ending All-Star teams, 13 times in the first team and 6 times in the second team. Bourque was also a Canadian Olympic athlete and almost synonymous with the Boston Bruins franchise, having played 21 seasons and became Boston's longest-serving captain. Bourque ended his career with the Colorado Avalanche, with whom he won the only Stanley Cup in his last game in the NHL. In 2017, he was named one of the NHL's 100 Greatest Players.
