Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson is a British business magnate, investor and author. In the 1970s, he founded the Virgin Group, which today controls more than 400 companies in various industries. Branson expressed his desire to become an entrepreneur from a young age. Her first business at the age of 16 was a magazine called Student. In 1970 he founded a mail order record company. He opened a record chain, Virgin Records - later known as Virgin Megastores - in 1972. Branson's Virgin brand grew rapidly during the 1980s, establishing Virgin Atlantic and growing music label Virgin Records. In 2004, he founded the aerospace company Virgin Galactic, based in California's Mojave Aerospace and Space Port, known for its SpaceShipTwo suborbital spacecraft designed for space travel. In March 2000, Branson was knighted at Buckingham Palace for "service to entrepreneurship".
