Richard Francis Dennis Barry III is a retired American professional basketball player who played in both the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. Named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996, Barry is ranked among the most prolific and all-powerful players in basketball history and the only one to lead the Association National college athletes, ABA and NBA in terms of points per game in a season. He ranks as ABA's all-time top scorer in both regular season and knockout stages, while his 36.3 points per game is the highest in NBA Finals history. Barry is also the only player to hit the 50 mark mark in game 7 of the knockout rounds in both tournaments. He is one of only four players to have made it to the winning team in both tournaments. Barry is widely known for his unorthodox free-throw technique but is extremely effective from below.
