A wheelchair-bound Canadian athlete who went on to win three Paralympic gold medals and was one of the final torchbearers at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Richard Marvin "Rick" Hansen is a Canadian athlete, activist and philanthropist. After a pickup accident at the age of 15, Hansen suffered a spinal cord injury and was half paralyzed. Hansen is best known for the Man in Motion World Tour. He was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He was one of the last torchbearers at the 1988 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Olympics. He was presented and delivered at the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games in 2010
