He is a rugby union player for New Zealand's national side, primarily as a centre but also as a win.

Rieko Edward Ioane is a professional rugby player from the New Zealand Rugby Federation who plays a winger or central position for the New Zealand Blues team in the New Zealand and Super Rugby National Team. During his youth career, he was selected to play in the 2014 and 2015 Sevens World Series for New Zealand and to join the 15th Auckland Grammar School, the high school's top representative team. Ioane represented the Auckland Football Team and made his professional debut for the league in 2015 when he was only 17 years old. He spent a season in the Miter Cup 10, before securing a place in the 2016 Blues Super Soccer squad. Frenchman of the Year Tom Maori, Player of the Year and World of the NZRU Sevens Rugby Player of the Year. Ioane made his senior international debut for New Zealand in November 2016 at the age of 19, becoming one of the youngest players to represent the New Zealand All Blacks.
