French winger who helped his country win the FIFA World Cup in 1998 and the UEFA Euro 2000 title in 2000.

Robert Emmanuel Pires is a French football coach and former professional footballer. Pires played for French clubs Metz and Marseille before his stint for Arsenal, where he won two FA Cups and two Premier League titles, including the club's 2003-2004 unbeaten season. A former France international, Pires made 79 appearances for the national team from 1996 to 2004, including the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2000 championships. The PFA for the seasons 2001–02, 2002– 03 and 2003–04 was 2001. FIFA Confederations Cup Player of the Year, 2001–02 FWA Player of the Year, 2001–02 Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year for the season 1995–96, and part of Pelé's FIFA 100. He was also voted by Arsenal fans as the sixth greatest player in club history. Pires has played most of his career as a left-wing midfielder, but can also play as a midfielder or as a support striker.
