Showing signs of great athletic ability early on, he was riding a bike with no training wheels when he was just 3 years old, starting tumbling when he was 6, played baseball for 6 years, and decided to become a cheerleader when he was 8. He's also a scuba diver and an artist who took Advanced Art every year of high school.

He grew up in Richmond, Virginia, with five sisters. He is part of a large family with about 30 cousins. His ancestors are Italian, Cherokee Indian, and Irish. Patrick Perez is someone he has dated.
