After being hired by The Nightly Show in 2015, he made history as a comedy writer and sketch and improvisational comic. She was the first African-American woman to serve as the show's head writer. She went on to headline BET's The Rundown, making history as the first African-American woman to host a late-night talk program.

Robin Thede is an American comedian, writer, comedian and improviser. Growing up in Iowa, she also worked as an entertainment reporter, presenter, and radio station. In 2015, she became the first African-American woman to become a lead writer for a late-night talk show. From 2017 to 2018, Thede hosted The Rundown with Robin Thede on BET. She created and starred in the HBO series A Black Lady Sketch Show, nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards 2020.
