George Roger Waters is an English musician, singer, bassist, and composer. In 1965, he co-founded the progressive rock group Pink Floyd. Waters initially served only as a bass player, but following the departure of singer-songwriter Syd Barrett in 1968, he also became their lyricist, co-singer, and concept leader. Pink Floyd achieved international success with concept albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall. By the early 1980s, they had grown into one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed groups; in 2013, they sold over 250 million albums worldwide. Amid creative differences, Waters quit in 1985 and began a legal dispute over the use of the band's name and material. They settled out of court in 1987. Waters' solo work included the pro and con studio albums of Hitch Hiking, Radio K.A.O.S., Amused to Death and Is This Life We Really Want?
