7-time All-Star pitcher who won the World Series MVP award for the Oakland Athletics in 1974 after leading the team to their third consecutive World Series victory. With the Milwaukee Brewers, he won the American League MVP and AL Cy Young Award in 1981 after leading the AL in saves.
Roland Glen "Rollie" Fingers is a retired American professional baseball pitcher who played 17 seasons in the Major League for Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers. Fingers' effectiveness as a backup pitcher helped redefine the value of pain relievers in baseball and helped usher in a more modern role. He's a three-time World Series champion, seven-time All-Star, four-time bailout of the Man of the Year Rolaids, and three times the MLB lead saving. Fingers won the American League's Most Valuable Player award and the Cy Young Prize in 1981. Fingers retired in 1985 with 341 career saves, the most in MLB history until 'he was beaten by Jeff. Reardon passed in 1992. Fingers was inducted into the famous National Baseball Stadium in 1992, leaving him only the second person to be elected. He is also one of the few MLB players to have a shirt number drawn from more than one club. Fingers is also known for its perfectly groomed handlebar mustache.
