Jazz composer and musician who was a post-bop jazz recording artist and jazz-funk pioneer. He was a record producer for both Atlantic Records and Polydor Records, recording records on both companies.
Roy Ayers is an American funk, soul and jazz composer, vibrator and music producer. Ayers began his career as a post-bop jazz artist, releasing several albums with Atlantic Records, before joining Polydor Records in the 1970s, during which time he helped pioneer in jazz-funk field. He is a key figure in the acid jazz movement, and was nicknamed "The Godfather of Neo Soul". He is known for his compositions "Everybody Loves the Sunshine", "Searchin" and "Running Away". At one point, he was supposed to have more rapper-sampled hits than any other artist.
