The Foundation for Moral Law's founder and chairman is well-known. Twice elected as the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, he resigned in April 2017 to fill Jeff Sessions' vacated Senate seat in Alabama as a conservative Republican candidate.
Roy Stewart Moore is an American politician who served as the 27th and 31st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama and was removed from office by the Alabama Court of Justice for criminal misconduct. He was the Republican candidate in the 2017 US Senate special election in Alabama to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, but lost to Democratic candidate Doug Jones. Moore unsuccessfully ran for the United States Senate in 2020. Moore attended West Point and served as a company captain in the Military Police during the Vietnam War. After graduating from the University of Alabama Law School, he joined the Etowah County Law Firm, as an Assistant Attorney from 1977 to 1982. In 1992, he was appointed by Governor Guy Hunt as a Constitutional Judge to fill a vacant position and to be elected to this position for the next term. In 2001, Moore was elected as chief justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama.
