He is known as the second season winner of American Idol and received a 2003 Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his "Superstar" recording. In the years since Idol, Studdard has released seven studio albums, including his first platinum disc, Soulful and best-selling gospel sequel, I Need an Angel. He is known for his recording career, having created hits such as "Flying Without Wings", "Sorry 2004" and "Change Me", in addition to turning to television and theater. Most notably, he played the role of Fats Waller on Ain't Misbehavin's' nationwide tour, which produced a Grammy-nominated soundtrack. In 2013, Studdard appeared as a contestant on the fifteenth season of competitive weight loss program The Biggest Loser.
