Valentine Ruth Henshall, known professionally as Ruthie Henshall, is an English actress, singer and dancer known for her work in musical theater. She began her professional theater career in 1986, before making her West End in Cats debut in 1987. Nominated five times for the Olivier Award, she won the Olivier Award for Actress in 1995. Best Role lead in a musical for her role as Amalia Balash in a London revival by She Loves Me. Other roles Henshall nominated for Olivier are Polly Baker in the London original Crazy for You, Roxie Hart in The Chicago Revival and the main roles in the original productions of Peggy Sue Got Married and Marguerite. She made her Broadway debut in 1999 as Velma Kelly in Chicago and returned to Broadway to play Roxie Hart in 2010. She also played Mrs. Wilkinson for two years in the musical Billy Elliot the Musical in the West End. She returned to television acting in 2021 as Miranda Evans in the BBC television series Doctors.
