Ryan Casey is a retired Irish footballer and has played at left-back. Ryan was appointed FAI Development Director for Sligo in July 2007. Casey started his career at Swansea City after signing at the age of 17 from Galway Hibernians A.F.C. He also played for St Patrick's Athletic, Cork City, Galway United, Athlone Town and Longford Town. Casey was part of the so-called 'golden generation' of young Irish football in the late 1990s. Under the leadership of Brian Kerr, the unpaid Republic won the European U-16 and UEFA U -18 in 1998, and Ryan was part of the winning Under-18 team in Cyprus. In 1999, he played at the World Youth Football Championship in Nigeria, where the Republic reached the round of 16 before kicking off against the home side.
