Ryan James Shawcross is an English professional footballer who plays at center-back for club Inter Miami. Shawcross started his career with Manchester United and made his club debut in a League Cup match against Crewe Alexandra; he then spent time on loan at the Belgian feeder club, Royal Antwerp. He joined Championship club Stoke City on loan in August 2007 and scored instantly on his debut against Cardiff City. His good form cost Stoke £ 1million for Manchester United in January 2008 to keep him at Britannia Stadium. He formed a good defensive partnership with Leon Cort as Stoke was promoted to the Premier League for the first time, ending 23 years old from top flight. Despite his poor start in the Premier League, Shawcross has established himself as the first-choice midfielder alongside Abdoulaye Faye.
