Former hedge fund analyst who left Wall Street to launch his free online academy, the Khan Academy in 2005. YouTube is where the educational videos are distributed, with over 6 million subscribers. Khan Lab School, a physical school, was also founded by him.

Salman "Sal" Khan is an educator and founder of the Khan Academy, a free online educational organization and platform in which he has created over 6,500 video lessons teaching a wide range of academic topics, The initial focus was on math and science. He is also the founder of Khan Lab, a brick and mortar school affiliated with Khan Academy. As of February 2021, Khan Academy's YouTube channel had 6.4 million subscribers, and Khan Academy videos have been viewed more than 1.7 billion times. In 2012, Time added Khan to its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. That same year, Forbes magazine featured Khan on its cover, with the story "A trillion dollar opportunity".
