Salim Abdul Rashid Khan is an Indian actor, producer and screenwriter. As a screenwriter he has written scripts, stories and screenplays for many Bollywood films. Khan is part of Salim's famous screenwriting duo Javed alongside Javed Akhtar. The duo are the first Indian screenwriters to achieve the title of Hindi movie star and go on to become the most successful Indian screenwriter of all time. They are considered "the greatest playwrights of Hindi cinema". While working together, Salim Khan is largely responsible for story and character development, while Javed Akhtar is largely responsible for dialogue development. Salim-Javed revolutionized Indian cinema in the 1970s, transforming and reinventing the Bollywood formula, pioneering the hit Bollywood format and avant-garde genres such as masala film and Dacoit Western. Salim Khan was also responsible for creating the prototype of the character "Angry Young Man" and starting Amitabh Bachchan's career.
