Sam Evans is a fictional character in the Fox Glee musical comedy series. The character was played by actor Chord Overstreet and appeared on Glee from the first episode of the second season titled "Audition," which first aired on September 21, 2010. Sam is a transfer student at William McKinley High School who becomes a member of the football team, as well as a member of the glee club, New Directions. On his first episode, Sam performed Travie McCoy's “Billionaire” with some of the Glee Club guys, but didn't show up for a challenge due to the low social status of club members. However, he also joined him later. This character was especially well received by television critics. MTV's Amy Semigran commented, “It turns out their strategy, like Sam's crush on you singing Quinn Fabray, worked. Despite some mixed signals and apprehension towards Quinn, the two turned on a cute little performance by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat's “Lucky” character. "
