Nigel John Dermot "Sam" Neill is a New Zealand actor, director, producer and writer. Born in Omagh, Northern Ireland, Neill moved to Christchurch, New Zealand with his family in 1954. He was first recognized when he appeared in the 1977 film Sleeping Dogs, then starred in My Brilliant Career. , Omen III: The Final Conflict, Possession, Cry in the Dark, Deadly Calm, The Red October Hunt and Pianist. He gained international fame as Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, a role he has reappeared in Jurassic Park III and the upcoming Jurassic World: Domination. In addition to cinema, Neill has also appeared in many television dramas including Reilly, Ace of Spies, The Simpsons, Merlin, The Tudors, Crusoe, Happy Town, Alcatraz, Peaky Blinders, and Rick and Morty. He has presented and reported on a number of documentaries. Neill is the recipient of the Longford Lyell Award and the New Zealand Film Award as well as the Logie Award for Best Actor.
