Samuel Brinckerhoff "Brinck" Thorne is an American football player and coach. He played college football at Yale University as a defenseman from 1893 to 1894. As senior captain and captain in 1895, Thorn was named All-American. He returned to Yale in 1896 to serve as head football coach for a season in which he guided the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record. Thorne was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1970
