Samir Nasri is a French professional footballer who is currently a freelance player, having recently played for Belgian club Anderlecht. He has mainly played in the positions of attacking midfield and winger, although he has also been deployed in central midfield. He has been suspended from football for eighteen months until January 2019 after a doping violation. Nasri is known for his ability to dribble, control the ball and pass the ball. He is described as a player with "vision and imagination that makes him an unpredictable opponent". His style of play, abilities and cultural background have been compared to former French international Zinedine Zidane. Nasri started his footballing career playing for local youth clubs in his hometown of Marseille. At the age of 9, he joined professional club Olympique de Marseille and spent the next seven years developing in the club's youth academy at La Commanderie, the club's training center. During the 2004-05 season, he made his professional debut in September 2004 at the age of 17 against Sochaux.
