Sarah Diana Stevenson, MBE is an English taekwondo athlete. World champion in 2001, Stevenson won her country's first Olympic bronze medal in taekwondo, a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, her third Olympic competition for the United Kingdom. Disqualified before the medal round, she recovered from the appeal and won the final bronze medal. Stevenson became world champion again in 2011, despite losing both parents to cancer the year before. Stevenson was selected for her home games in London in 2012, where she was sworn in on behalf of all the athletes at the opening ceremony. Its injury-related construction was halted until the Olympics, resulting in early disqualification; She won a silver medal in the Olympic playoffs despite a broken arm.
