Séamus Coleman is an Irish professional footballer, playing at right-back and captain of both Premier League club Everton and the Republic of Ireland national team. Originally a Gaelic footballer, Coleman began his affiliate football career with St Catherine's in Killybegs. He joined Irish League team Sligo Rovers in 2006 after impressing them in a friendly. He then moved to the UK to sign Everton in January 2009 for a fee of £ 60,000. In 2010, he spent half the season on loan with Blackpool, helping them secure promotion through the play-offs championship, before returning to Everton, where he made over 300 appearances and was considered one of the best full-backs in the tournament. Coleman has been a senior international player for the Republic of Ireland since 2011, having over 50 appearances for the team.
