Joseph "Sepp" Blatter is a former Swiss football coach who served as the eighth President of FIFA from 1998 to 2015. Initially, he received a 6-year ban from participating in FIFA activities, then was extended for another 6 years. Coming from the world of business, public relations and sports management, Blatter became FIFA Secretary-General in 1981 and was later elected President of the 51st FIFA Congress on June 8, 1998. , succeeding João Havelange, who has led the organization since 1974. Blatter was re-elected in 2002, 2007, 2011 and 2015. Like his predecessor, the Havelange, Blatter seeks to increase its influence. African and Asian countries in world football through the expansion of teams participating in various FIFA tournaments. He has been consistently pursued by allegations of corruption and poor financial management.
