After two years at Borussia Dortmund, he joined Manchester United in 2012 as an attacking midfielder. In 2014, he returned to Borussia Dortmund. He's noted for his deft ball handling and excellent peripheral vision. In 2008, he was named to the Japanese national team.

Shinji Kagawa is a Japanese professional soccer player who plays in midfield position for Greek club PAOK and the Japanese national team. Kagawa started his professional career in his hometown with Cerezo Osaka before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2010. After two years in Dortmund, Kagawa signed a four-year contract with Manchester United. Two years later he returned to Dortmund. He is known for "his vision, his technique, his skillful movements and his passing." Kagawa holds the record for most appearances and goals by a Japanese player in the UEFA club leagues. Since his international debut in May 2008, he has made over 90 international caps and scored over 30 goals. On November 29, 2012, Kagawa was named the best player of the Asian Football Federation.
