Shirley Ann Caesar-Williams, known as Shirley Caesar, is an American singer, songwriter and artist whose career spanned seven decades. An award-winning artist, with 12 Grammy Awards as well as the Dove and Stellar Awards for her merits, she is known as the "First Lady of Gospel Music" and "Queen of the Gospel Music Line". She began recording at the age of 12 in 1951 on the federal label Shirley Caesar after releasing over 40 albums. She has appeared in more than 16 collections and three gospel musicals, Mama I Want to Sing, Sing: Mama 2 and Born to sing: Mama 3. She is also the creator of the #unameit challenge, acting. out in one of his convincing songs. She has opened her store of the same name and plans to use the profits to help others during the holiday season. Caesar's credits also include a slew of commercials for MCI Communications and numerous awards for his recordings.
