Silvia Verónica Pinal Hidalgo is a Mexican film, theater and television actress. Pinal began her career in theater, venturing into filmmaking in 1949. Pinal gained fame during the heyday of Mexican cinema. Filming work and popularity at home led her to work in Europe. Pinal gained international recognition for starring in director Luis Buñuel's famous trilogy: Viridiana, El ángel exterminador and Simón del desierto. In addition to a particularly outstanding film career, Pinal also excelled in other areas. She is a pioneer in the musical theater scene in Mexico in addition to venturing into the field of television, as an actress and producer. At one point in his life, Pinal also engaged in politics and held public positions at home.
