Philosopher and cultural critic best known for his work at the University of Ljubljana in the fields of philosophy and sociology.

Slavoj Žižek is a Slovenian philosopher, researcher in the Department of Philosophy at Ljubljana College of Arts and International Director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities at the University of London. He is also a world-renowned researcher at Kyung Hee University in Seoul and a world-renowned German professor at New York University. He works on subjects such as continental philosophy, psychoanalysis, political theory, cultural studies, art criticism, film criticism, Marxism, Hegelism and theology. In 1989, Žižek published his first text in English, titled The Sublime Object of Ideas. In this book, he left traditional Marxist theory to develop a more analyzed materialist conception of ideology, strongly based on Lacanian psychoanalysis and Hegelian idealism.
