Sylvester Stewart, better known as Sly Stone, is an American musician, songwriter and record producer who is best known as the head of Sly and the Family Stone. played an important role in the development of funk with its pioneers. a mix of soul, rock, psychedelia and gospel in the 1960s and 1970s. Growing up in California, Stone mastered a number of musical instruments as a child and played gospel music as a child with brothers Freddie and Rose. In the mid-1960s, he worked both as a record producer for Autumn Records and as a record player for radio KSOL in San Francisco. In 1966, Stone formed Sly & the Family Stone, one of the first racially integrated boy and girl groups in popular music. The group has recorded hits like "Dance to the Music", "Everyday People", "Thank You" and "Family Affair" and popular albums like Stand!
