4-time Irish Olympian who won silver in the 5000m event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Three World Championship gold medals, three European Championship gold medals, and numerous World and Irish records are among her other achievements.

Sonia O'Sullivan is a former Irish track and field athlete. She won a gold medal in 5,000 meters at the 1995 World Championships and a silver medal in 5,000 meters at the 2000 Olympics. Her 2,000m world record was 5: 25.36, set in 1994 and through 2017. O'Sullivan first appeared after winning the 1,500m at the 1991 Universiade, before riding. then won a silver medal in the 1500m at the 1993 World Championships. She was most popular with the 5000m title at the 1996 Olympics, but dropped out of the final due to illness. In addition to the world title in 1995, she won three gold medals at the European Championship, covering a distance of 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m, and was twice the bronze world champion. O'Sullivan won silver medals at 5000m and 10,000m at the 2002 European Championship and competed at his Fourth Olympic Games in 2004 .
