Walter Theodore "Sonny" Rollins is an American jazz saxophonist widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians. During a career spanning seven decades, he recorded over 60 albums as a leader. Some of his compositions, including "St. Thomas", "Oleo", "Doxy", "Pent-Up House" and "Airegin", have become the jazz standard. Rollins has been called "the greatest living improviser" and "Colossus Saxophone".
