Søren Hansen is a Danish professional golfer. Hansen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He won the Danish amateur clubfight in 1997 and turned pro later that year. Hansen claimed his first professional victory at the 1998 Navision Open Golf Championship at home. Since 1999, he has been a member of the European Tour where he has won two league wins. He won the Irish Open from Murphy in 2002, where he won the fourth sub-hole against Richard Bland, Niclas Fasth and Darren Fichardt. He also won the 2007 Mercedes-Benz Championship with a four-stroke gap. His best ranking in the Order of Merit was 8th in 2007. He represented Europe in 2008 Ryder Cup matches, but without winning a single, the United States won. In September 2007 he entered the top 50 of the official world golf ranking and became the highest ranked Danish golfer. Hansen represented Denmark for the World Cup in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2007 .
