Steven Lee Cropper, sometimes referred to as "The Colonel", is an American guitarist, musician and record producer. He is the guitarist of Stax Records house group Booker T. & the M.G.'s, has supported artists like Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas and Johnnie Taylor. He also acted as the producer of several of these records. He then became a member of the Blues Brothers group. Rolling Stone magazine ranks him 39th on the list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
