Stephen Douglas Kerr is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association. He is an eight-time NBA champion, having won five titles as a player and three with the Warriors as a head coach. Kerr has the highest career three-point goal rate in NBA history for any player making 250 or more three-pointers. He also held the NBA record for the highest three points in a season at 52.4% until the record was broken by Kyle Korver in 2010. In 2004, Kerr became the minority owner of the Phoenix. Suns., Which is part of a conglomerate run by Robert Sarver. . bought the team in 2004. On June 2, 2007, the Phoenix Suns appointed Kerr as executive chairman of basketball and general manager of the team and one of Sarver's trusted majority owners, basketball advisor. Kerr announced he would step down in June 2010, but retained his minority stake until 2014
