Steven Noel Wariner is an American country singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer. Originally a backing musician for Dottie West, he also worked with Bob Luman and Chet Atkins before starting a solo career in the late 1970s. He released eighteen studio albums and over fifty on-the-menu records for several different labels. Wariner had his biggest hit on the charts in the 1980s, recording first for RCA Records Nashville and then MCA Nashville. By joining these labels, he submitted a number of top 10 singles to the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and received enthusiastic reviews from critics for the creative control he holds. When he moved to Arista Nashville in 1991, he had the most commercially successful album I Am Ready, his first certified gold album, but with less success.
