Ajay Singh Deol, better known as Sunny Deol, is an Indian actor, director, producer and politician who is now a Member of Parliament for Gurdaspur in the state of Punjab. He is also known for his work in Hindi cinema and has won two National Cinema Awards and two Filmfare Awards. Deol made his debut with fellow Betaab colleague Amrita Singh for which he received a Filmfare Best Actor Award nomination. He then starred in many successful movies in the 1980s and 1990s and is widely regarded as one of the most successful stars of that era. For his role as an amateur fighter accused of killing his brother in Rajkumar Santoshi's Ghayal in 1990, Deol won widespread recognition and acclaim and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and Award. National Film Award - Special Jury Award / Special Award. His role as a lawyer in Damini - Lightning earned him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
