Governor John R. McKernan Jr. later, she appointed her to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in 1987. In 1992, President George H. W. Bush has appointed his regional office manager for the Small Business Administration in Boston. Collins became the Deputy State Treasurer in the Massachusetts Office of the Treasurer and Admissions in 1993. After returning to Maine in 1994, she became the Republican candidate for governor of Maine in the competition
