Taika David Cohen, known by his stage name Taika Waititi, is a New Zealand director, producer, screenwriter, actor and comedian. He has received an Oscar and a Grammy, as well as two Primetime Emmy nominations. The feature film Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople used to be New Zealand's highest-grossing film. Waititi co-directed and starred in the horror comedy film What We Do in the Shadows alongside Jemaine Clement, which has been adapted into a TV series of the same name. It won a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Best Comedy Series. His most recent director credits include the superhero film Thor: Ragnarok and the dark comedy Jojo Rabbit, which he also later wrote and played as a fantasy version of Adolf Hitler. Jojo Rabbit received six Oscar nominations and won the award for best adaptation screenplay. Additionally, Waititi won a Grammy for producing the film's soundtrack.
