Japanese race car driver who won the British Formula Three Championship, the Formula Three Masters Championship, and the Macau Grand Prix. In 2001, he was voted the National Racing Driver of the Year.

Takuma Sato, nicknamed "Taku", is a Japanese professional racer. Sato is the two-time Indianapolis 500 champion, winning this event in 2017 and 2020. He is the first Asian racer to win the Indy 500 and is the 20th racer to win the Indy 500. He also became the first Japanese rider to win the IndyCar when he won the 2013 Long Beach Grand Prix. He currently drives the # 30 Dallara-Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in the IndyCar series. Sato has raced full time in the IndyCar since 2010 for the KV, RLL, Foyt and Andretti teams, all using Honda engines. He played in Formula 1 from 2002 to 2008 for the Jordan, BAR and Super Aguri teams supplied by Honda, scoring a single goal at the 2004 United States Grand Prix. The 2004 Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship is the best result. never obtained for the Japanese pilot in the series.
