Thurston Joseph Moore is an American musician best known as a member of Sonic Youth. He has also been involved in numerous collaborations and solo groups outside of Sonic Youth, as well as directing Ecstatic Peace! record company. Moore was ranked 34th in Rolling Stone's 2004 “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. In May 2012, Spin released a list of the Top 100 Staff Picked Rock Guitarists and ranked Moore and fellow Sonic Youth Lee Ranaldo at No. 1. In 2012, Moore began forming a new band Chelsea Light Moving, with their first track, "Burroughs", to be released as a free download. Chelsea Light Moving debuted with the same name on March 5, 2013. Since 2015, Chelsea Light Moving has disbanded, after releasing a studio album. Moore and other band members continue to be active in music as part of his solo projects and other groups.
