Timothy Donald Cook is an American business executive, currently Managing Director of Apple Inc. Cook previously served as the company's managing director under co-founder Steve Jobs. Cook joined Apple in March 1998 as senior vice president for global operations, then as executive vice president for global operations and sales. He was appointed CEO on August 24, 2011, before Jobs passed away in October of the same year. During his tenure as Managing Director, he advocated for policy reforms in the areas of international and domestic surveillance, cybersecurity, US manufacturing, and environmental protection.
