Timothy David Paine is an Australian international cricket player who currently leads the Australian national team in cricket competition. He played for the Tasmania Tigers in the Australian national cricket and was captain of Hobart Hurricanes before being selected for Australia in the Ashes 2017-18 series. A product of the Australian Cricket Academy, Paine became the youngest contract player in Australia, when he received a rookie contract with Tasmania at the age of 16. He made his first and one-day division debut for Tasmania in 2005; scored a century later a day in the 2005–06 season, and a dual century, 215, in subsequent innings. It was part of the state's first Pura Cup win of that season and also part of their one-day winning team in 2007-08. Paine made his Australian ODI debut to replace regular goalkeeper Brad Haddin in 2009 against England, marking his first century of play.
