Sir Timothy Miles Bindon Rice is an English author and lyricist. He is best known for his collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber, with whom he wrote, among other shows, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita; with ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, with whom he wrote Chess; and with Disney on Aladdin, The Lion King, a stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, and the Aida-based Broadway musical. He also wrote lyrics for the musical Alan Menken King David and DreamWorks Animation's The Road to El Dorado. Rice was knighted by Elizabeth II for music services in 1994. He has a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame, was introduced to the Musicians Hall of Fame, was a recipient of the Disney Legend Award, and was a member of the British Academy of Musicians, Composers and Authors National. In addition to his awards in the UK, he is also one of 16 artists who have won Emmy, Oscar, Grammy and Tony Awards in the United States. Rice has hosted the Brit Awards twice.
